{"id":1464,"date":"2020-12-14T13:21:51","date_gmt":"2020-12-14T18:21:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rubanrose.wpbeta.vortexdev.com\/blogue\/1-million-for-research-into-metastatic-breast-cancer\/"},"modified":"2020-12-15T03:11:47","modified_gmt":"2020-12-15T08:11:47","slug":"1-million-for-research-into-metastatic-breast-cancer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rubanrose.wpbeta.vortexdev.com\/en\/blog\/1-million-for-research-into-metastatic-breast-cancer\/","title":{"rendered":"$1 million for research into metastatic breast cancer"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.societederecherchesurlecancer.ca\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cancer Research Society<\/a> (the Society) and the <a href=\"https:\/\/rubanrose.wpbeta.vortexdev.com\/en\/\">Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation<\/a> (the Foundation) are proud to jointly announce the \u201c100 years of cancer research\u201d competition to fund some of the most promising metastatic breast cancer research projects in Quebec and throughout the country. The total value of the grants to be awarded is $1&nbsp;million- $500,000 from the Society and $500,000 from the Foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This competition aims to develop and promote scientific research excellence (preclinical\/translational) to provide those affected with metastatic breast cancer (stage 4) with the most innovative treatments available.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stage 4 cancer is considered incurable and the majority of people living with the diagnosis undergo constant treatment to limit the progression of the disease and mitigate side effects, hence the importance of maximizing research and support efforts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The \u201c100 years of cancer research\u201d initiative marks the Society\u2019s and the Foundation\u2019s 75<sup>th<\/sup> and 25<sup>th<\/sup> anniversaries respectively, and highlights collaborations between these two organizations that have united their efforts to ensure the continuity of breast cancer research during this crucial time when researchers and patients need it more than ever before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><em>\u201cResearch is essential, especially in the context of the pandemic. We are proud to continue our mission and collaborate with the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation.
