People with the disease often have to balance work, social life and family responsibilities, sometimes with young children. On top of all that, they also have to cope with the emotional toll of their diagnosis.

In addition to the strong emotions it evokes, the diagnosis brings its own set of challenges on a daily basis. These include:

Fatigue management. Both the disease and its treatment can cause fatigue, which is often persistent, unpredictable, and can have a significant impact on daily life.

Pain management. Pain can vary in intensity, but when it occurs, it can limit mobility, activities, or quality of life.

For the day-to-day management of these symptoms, palliative care is available as soon as an advanced diagnosis is made. Palliative care is not concerned only with end of life but can play an essential role in improving quality of life.

Indeed, palliative care can help relieve fatigue and pain and lessen feelings of anxiety. For example, complementary approaches such as adapted yoga, meditation, and dietary management can also be added to support medical treatments.
